For years I’ve had weird issues with my cuticles. Yes, this is apparently a “thing.” Boys, you just wouldn’t understand. Girls, you know what i’m talking about, right? 🙂
I’ve just struggled with battling dry, cracking skin around my nails. #gross (sorry!). I’ll go through periods where my hands are good, but then other times when they’re dry as can be and no amount of lotion will help! Since Amos was born, my cuticles have been straight up turrrrrible. It’s awful! Cracking, bleeding, trifflin’ nails. I don’t know if it’s related to postpartum hormones or what.
In any event, I’ve been trying different things to get my cuticles and nails back on track. I decided to try and DIY a cuticle oil and nail serum using what I have at home plus some of my favorite essential oils that are extremely supportive of skin and nail health.
I made this serum and have already noticed a HUGE difference! I absolutely love it. I had to share the recipe with y’all!
Here’s what you’ll need:
In your glass dropper bottle, add in each of the essential oils – lavender, frankincense, myrrh, lemon, and rosemary. Then, fill about halfway with grapeseed oil, then the rest with 50/50 vegetable glycerine and jojoba oil. I did not measure, I just kind of eyeballed it… there’s really no exact science to this part. 🙂 Then, close it up and give it a good shake.
To apply, apply a small amount to each cuticle and rub in around the cuticles and on the nail beds. I use this 2-3 times a day and let it sink it. You can put lotion on top for extra moisturizing! (I apply lotion about a minute or two AFTER applying the cuticle oil and nail serum to give it enough time to sink in).
