Both John and I have super dark, pretty straight hair (MAYBE some awkward waves in there… but for the most part, we both have dark and straight hair.) Meanwhile, when Lilly was first born, her hair was SUPER thick and dark, but it all fell out and has come back in blonde and curly! Amos is pretty bald, but his hair is looking RED!! What?! So crazy.
In any event… Lilly’s hair is so unruly. It has taken for.ev.er. to grow back in after it all fell out and is still pretty short… but the fact that it goes in like 149101893 different directions and is so curly also contributes to its unruliness and shortness.
Combing her hair and trying to tame that mane of hers has become quite the challenge. I loooooove when it is so curly (the heat and humidity do amazing things for her hair… I cannot say the same thing for myself! Haha!) But since her hair is so curly, and since she is such a wild sleeper, she wakes up from naps and in the morning (and after bath, too) with this giant head of nappy, tangled hair.
It’s a mess! So, trying to get it under control turns into quite the battle because, inevitably, she’s got a bunch of tangles and combing her hair hurts.
I have tried a couple detanglers from the store, but none of them work all that great on her hair and I don’t love that there’s a lot of yucky ingredients in them. Since you guys know I like to DIY a lot of home and beauty products, I figured I would try making my own homemade / DIY detangler hair spray with what I have on hand.
Well, this turned out to be awesome! It smells great, works great, and is nourishing for the hair. Goodbye hair combing battles! 🙂
If you’ve got a kiddo with unruly tangles (or maybe YOU’VE got the unruly hair), I hope you give this DIY hair detangler spray a try!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Combine all the ingredients in your glass spray bottle. Give it a good shake, spray on hair, and comb through. Just make sure to keep this spray away from eyes and don’t spray it directly in ears, either. 🙂 Also, be sure to give it a good shake before each use!
What do you think? Will you give this recipe a try? Have you ever made homemade hair detangler before?
