I love makeup, but if I’m being honest, I don’t wear a full face of makeup every day. Hardly! That’s not realistic for me at all. But, I hardly ever leave the house without *at least* putting mascara on. I look so tired without it! Big, full, thick eyelashes are my jam. After having Amos, I had so much postpartum hairloss that even my eyelashes fell out and they were starting to look really lame and thin. I’m too lazy to put on false eyelashes and while I know there are a bunch of lash boosting products out there on the market, most of them have so many chemicals in them that irritate my eyes. So, I set out on a mission to create and DIY a natural lash boosting serum with essential oils.
I did this as a complete test and honestly wasn’t sure if it would work or not. I spent some time researching what carrier oils and what essential oils promote healthy and strong hair growth and figured it would have to work for eyelashes, too! And this is what I came up with.
At first, I wasn’t sure if the lash boosting serum was working or not, but then I took a “progress” photo and I noticed a HUGE difference in the thickness and fullness of my lashes. I’m only about 8 weeks in right now and I’m noticing a big difference when I’m diligent with using the natural lash boosting serum every night.
you can DEFINITELY see a huge difference in the thickness and fullness of my lashes. I do have mascara on in both pictures, but it’s the same mascara and the same coat. 🙂
If you’re curious, I’m happy to keep you posted on progress as time goes on… but 8 weeks in, I’m pretty impressed and I’m calling this a DIY win!!
Here’s What You Will Need:
Why Lavender, Cedarwood, and Rosemary?
Lavender, Cedarwood, and Rosemary essential oils not only smell amazing, but also they help promote strong, healthy hair growth! And that includes your lashes. Castor oil is also a natural oil that helps promote strong and healthy hair!
In your empty clear mascara tube, fill approximately 3/4 of the way full with the organic castor oil. Add 3-4 drops of Lavender essential oil, 3-4 drops of Cedarwood essential oil, and 3-4 drops of Rosemary essential oil to the mascara tube. Honestly, I eyeballed it… 🙂 Feel free to start with just a couple of each and add more later. Put the mascara wand back in the tube and mix well.
Apply DIY lash boosting serum to eyelashes daily at night (after cleansing face / makeup) before bed paying extra attention to not get serum in your eyes… just on your eyelashes.
Do not get serum IN your eyes. Only apply to eyelashes. Essential oils should never go IN the eyes… if you *do* happen to accidentally get essential oils in your eyes, simply “rinse” with a clean carrier oil like castor oil (without EOs in it), olive oil, etc. DO NOT use water.
What do you think? Will you try this DIY lash boosting serum recipe? Have you tried anything similar?
