I LOVE Christmas. It is BY FAR my favorite time of year and my favorite holiday. I know that’s the case for a lot of people, but it’s just one of those things that I look forward to ALL YEAR LONG – and I always have – ever since I was a kid.
Twinkling lights, Christmas music, decorations, gift giving – it all makes me so happy!
And I’m loving Christmas even MORE now that I have Lilly. I know she has no idea what’s going on this year, but nevertheless, I love it.
Anyway, I’ve been trying to think of a cheap and easy little DIY project to do for her first Christmas ornament. Sure, you can get an ornament that says “Baby’s First Christmas 2013” and put a picture in it or something, but I wanted to do something a little different.
So, I thought I’d try to make a keepsake ornament for her!
I’d seen ornaments like this done with wedding invitations and stuff before, but I thought it’d be fun to do it with my baby shower invitation and a couple of her ultrasound pictures.
This project cost me $3!
I got this plastic bulb ornament from Target for $3 – actually it was $2.50 because it was on sale. 🙂 It had some tinsel in it, but I just took the tinsel out”
I’m a doofus and forgot to take a picture of the ultrasound picture and invitation before. But oh well.
I cut up the invitation and the picture into little strips:
Then, with my scissors, I curled the strips of picture and invitation like you would the end of a string on a balloon… and then I just shoved them in the ornament bulb.
And boom! Voila! So easy. I may even go back with a paint pen later and write Lilly 2013 or something on it, but I liked it as is for now.
I showed Lilly her ornament and apparently she wanted to eat it.
Not sure about this ornament deal…
So there you have it! I kinda want to make a bunch more because it was so easy. It would make a GREAT gift idea! 🙂
