One of the things I love most about “fashion” is the ability to be original. Fashion gives you an outlet for expressing yourself in ways you can’t even verbalize. It’s an opportunity to tell those around you something about yourself without saying a word. peplum top, red jeans, Sseko sandals, Nickel and Suede earrings, The Mighty River Project bag Trends are awesome – they’re what “define” style throughout generations… and taking inspiration from those around us, looking to others for fashion tips and advice, and heck, even copying an outfit you saw on someone else because you love it so much – those things are all well and good. I am not saying those things are bad at all, but, I guess what I AM saying is I love when people take those trends, inspirations, and outfit ideas and make them their OWN. peplum top, red jeans, Sseko sandals, Nickel and Suede earrings, The Mighty River Project bag By adding a “signature color” or a unique bag or a favorite pair of earrings and making the look uniquely YOU. It can be SO difficult today to branch out and be DIFFERENT. The blog world, especially, is SATURATED with people wearing the same dress the exact same way. And again, I’m not saying that’s bad… but I guess what I am saying is… how can you make that same dress that 40,000 other people have… DIFFERENT and uniquely you?peplum top, red jeans, Sseko sandals, Nickel and Suede earrings, The Mighty River Project bag What can you do to make it feel unique and special? This is something I really have fun with and I strive to do every day… make things my own…

It’s not about reinventing the wheel… it’s about taking what already exists and looking at it a different way. peplum top, red jeans, Sseko sandals, Nickel and Suede earrings, The Mighty River Project bag “In order be irreplacable, one must always be different.” – Coco Chanel

What do you think?

How does fashion inspire you to be original? Do you struggle with this? It’s not easy and it’s something I have to be conscious about! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
