I just got back last week from the Fair Trade Federation conference in Austin, Texas where I was one of the keynote speakers. It was such an incredible event and I was so grateful to be a part of it! One of my favorite parts of the whole conference was the Fair Trade expo that featured so many incredible fair trade brands. Some of the brands I have long loved and been familiar with and a few others were brand new to me and I was so excited to see their pieces!
I may, or may not, have done a little shopping at the fair trade expo, and today I’m styling this GORGEOUS new Mata Traders dress along with a stunning necklace from a new-to-me fair trade brand, Rover & Kin, all along with a couple old favorite pieces of mine!
My goal is always to show you that fair trade and ethical fashion can be (and is!) stylish, trendy, classic, beautiful, and accessible! I want to bust the myths that fair trade fashion is hard or out of touch… I LOVE sharing brands with you that not only make INCREDIBLY beautiful and high quality products that will last, but also have an incredible mission to make the world better that you get be a part of.
This Mata Traders dress immediately caught my eye when I was at the expo. I came back around to it 3 or 4 times before I finally said, “okay I’ll try it on…” and then, of course, I tried it on, and fell more in love. It’s such a classy dress, it has POCKETS, it’s a gorgeous woven material, the vertical stripes are beautiful, and I love the colors in it. Did I mention it has pockets? I belted it to further give me a little bit more of a waist, but you could definitely omit the belt!
It would make a great Easter dress, but honestly, it could be worn year round. Just throw some tights on in the colder months and you’re good to go!
Now, this necklace is from a new-to-me brand, Rover & Kin. I met their founder, Wen, at the fair trade expo, and loved her right away! Her booth actually stopped me in my tracks because I immediately fell in love with her gorgeous products. She has beautiful neutral, minimalist, but classic clothing and her jewelry is incredible. No lie, I wanted basically every piece on her table… but obviously that’s ridiculous, so I did not partake. But this u-shaped brass necklace is stunning and the perfect piece to wear with basically anything. I AM IN LOVE.
I’m also styling this look with a new Spring tote bag from Tribe Alive, one of my all time favorite ethical fashion brands. The sage green color is really trendy right now… but honestly I have always loved this color.
And then, of course, I’ve got my favorite Root Collective Lee booties and a denim jacket. Because, of course.
Now what about you? Any new-to-you brands you’ve been loving lately? How would you style this dress?
