🙋🏻‍♀️Where are my fellow “small school” grads at? I’m legitimately filled with so much @christophernewportu school pride after last night’s @cnumensbasketball NCAA national championship win! 🏀

Look, I love me some D1 march madness and I am obviously a huge @unc_basketball Tar Heel fan for lots of reasons, but sometimes I feel like the “smaller” D3 / non-D1 schools get left behind in the conversations or people downplay them…

Going to CNU was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. The professors were amazing, I was @cnu_sga student body president, joined @cnuphimu and made lifelong friends, laughed on stage with #CNUTONiGHT, started a leadership scholarship in my mom’s name… needless to say, I bleed CNU blue.

So, I’m gonna beam with school pride when we win the natty for the first time ever and get #1 on ESPN Sportscenter and all the things.

🎓Fellow “small” D3 school grads… Comment below and share where you graduated and why you loved it!

Music is healing. I’ve always been a music person. Between being in a million choirs in high school to leading worship at church to singing karaoke… music has always been a part of my life.

But for some reason, I never picked up the guitar until this year. I was so inspired by my best friend Meghan who learned guitar last year, but also, I desperately needed to unlock something within me, but I didn’t know what. Learning guitar has somehow tapped into a creative part of my brain that was dormant for a really long time. I could cry thinking about it.

Lauren Daigle’s new song “Thank God I Do” stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard it this week. I’ve had it on repeat ever since and I don’t know if it’s the words, the melody, or what, but this song is so beautiful. Yes, it’s a piano ballad, but the moment I heard it, I wanted to see if I could figure out a way to play it on the guitar.

And so this is my attempt, as a *very* amateur guitarist (as in I’ve only been playing for two months) at trying to play this beautiful song on the guitar. Professional guitarists, please don’t judge me trying to figure out a strumming pattern for a song that doesn’t even have a guitar in it.

All that to say, it is never too late to learn something new.

At the beginning of the year, I decided that the age of 37 was the perfect age to learn how to play the guitar. I’ve been playing for a hair over a month and it’s basically all I want to do now and I regret every single day for not starting sooner in life.

Lilly and John tell me I’m doing a great job and that they can’t believe how fast I’m learning. Amos asks me why I’m learning and tells me that I will “never be good enough to play at church.” Someone in this family gotta keep me humble.

All that to say… if there’s something you’ve always wanted to learn, just learn it. Doesn’t matter if you’re 37 or 77. Do it.

Amos James is 7 today!

This boy has so much spunk, energy, heart, and life in him. Everyone loves Amos. He is truly a gift to everyone who knows him. He makes us laugh so hard. He is the snuggliest and I pray he will still want to snuggle me even when he’s grown. He still wants me to tuck him in and sing him songs each night, but everything else he wants to do “by hisself.” He’s our little basketball star, chicken whisperer, and all around fun hog. His love language is quality time and he will do just about anything to play a board game or card game. If games could be a love language, that would be his. 🤣

This boy is such a hard worker and always ready to participate. I feel like the luckiest mama that he is ours.

Happy birthday, Amos! We love you so!

11 years married to this guy. I love him and I like him. We have the most fun together. We make each other laugh. We are each other’s biggest fans. We flirt constantly. We gross out our kids with our kitchen make outs. When we are apart for even a couple hours, we miss each other. I’m not blowin’ smoke here when I say that there’s not a thing about John I’d change. I love him for who he is - he’s not perfect, but he is a man who desperately loves the Lord, he loves and protects his family, and he loves his friends. He’s also real hunky. 🤩

We sat at lunch yesterday and John asked me, “Leading up to our wedding, was there ever a time where you wondered if this was the right decision? Did you ever second guess?”

I thought honestly about it for a moment and said, “Honestly? No, not at all. I was so excited to be your wife because I just knew that this was it and that being married to you would be the most fun and the best thing. And I was right. In fact, it’s been better than I could have dreamed. God knew what He was doing.”

He replied, “Yep, me too.”

Happy anniversary to my best mate. I love you more than words can express.
