February is a big month in the Stillman household! Not only is Valentine’s Day approaching (you know, for everyone… not just us), but also our WEDDING anniversary is in February! AND, Lilly turns six months old this month! ALL THE THINGS are happening in February this year!
Well, John and I have made a pact to each other that we WILL be going on a date night this month. By hook or by crook, we are getting a babysitter and we are hitting the town and going out on a date. We have, admittedly, been slacking in this area… meaning we just haven’t taken the time to really DATE each other in the last few months. It’s hard! But this month, no excuses.
One of my favorite things to do when getting ready for a date night is really glam up my makeup. I love that feeling of walking down the stairs after getting ready and having my husband tell me I look beautiful. I mean, of course he’s gonna say that, he’s my husband… but you know what I mean. I want date night to feel different and special – so I always love putting together a makeup look that’s just a little bit more fancy shmancy than my daily makeup routine.
As someone who LOVES (read: LOVES) to play around with makeup, I do NOT love breaking the bank for makeup. While I do own my fair share of “high end” makeup products – I try and sparse those purchases out and really “invest” in certain makeup products here and there. However, for my more “fun” makeup and “creative” makeup, I LOVE hitting up my local drugstore and going back to those old faithful brands like Maybelline, Rimmel London, and Wet N’ Wild.
Side note: I remember going shopping for Wet N’ Wild makeup products when I was in like second grade. Sad? Maybe. Haha!
Anyway. Where was I? Oh, right. Drugstore makeup.
So, for this date night makeup look I put together, I hit up my local Walgreens to get all the accoutrements I needed. My Walgreens has an AMAZING makeup aisle:
And here’s what I ended up picking up for this date night makeup look:
I decided to go for a shimmery, but neutral eye and really play up my lip color. I have been trying to venture into a more daring territory with my lip colors recently. And a dark red wine colored lip is PERFECT for date night… it’s just one of those lip colors that you don’t really wear every day – so it makes it feel extra special. 🙂
Now, do you want to know how I achieved this look? Well, I did a little makeup tutorial for you! WOOP WOOP! Check it out.
