The New Closet Staples

I have no idea why it took me so long to add a denim vest and white jeans to my closet.

Well, I know why it took me so long to add white jeans… because finding white jeans that fit right is like solving a Mensa quiz. It’s impossible. Every pair of white jeans I tried on just didn’t fit right… they hugged my hips and thighs awkwardly and highlighted things I’m just not trying to highlight.

When I was at Old Navy last week, I saw these white boyfriend jeans on the rack and thought, “hmmm…. haven’t thought to try white boyfriend jeans!” And boom! I fell in love. They don’t hug me in an awkward way, they’re really comfortable, and they will go with SO MUCH. White jeans are DEFINITELY a closet staple.

Then, let’s talk the denim vest.

For a long time I think I had it in my mind that a denim vest was too 1992 / Axel Rose or something. But I love my jean jacket so much, I thought, “Hmmm… a denim vest might be a good summer / warm weather option.” I tried it on and instantly I could think of about, oh well I don’t know… 17,291 outfits to wear it with. And it was on sale. So, in my shopping cart it went.

I will warn you, this denim vest is going to be making an appearance in many an outfit this summer, believe you me.

I seriously can’t believe it took me this long to get one. I should know better by now. Or something.

What about you? Any closet staples you’ve been recently in love with? Anything you’re “behind the times” on? Are you a white jeans / denim vest fan, too?
