WOOHOO! I am so excited to be sharing part TWO of my “Looks to Love” Valentine’s Day makeup tutorial with Maybelline today. I shared my review and tutorial last week using the new foundation and contouring palette, and I promised I would be sharing a full tutorial of my Valentine’s Day date night makeup look this week.
As you guys know, I love makeup and I also love sharing tutorials that feature a particular line of makeup. Especially when it’s a line as accessible, affordable, awesome, well known and high quality as Maybelline! I really hope y’all love this look!
There’s only about two weeks left until John and I welcome baby Stillman 2.0 and we also will celebrate Valentine’s Day and our wedding anniversary in that time. So, I know we will be doing all we can to get dressed up and go on a date or two while we can. Plus, I love getting the chance to just spend some time and do my makeup because it makes me feel beautiful. Seems silly, I know… but it really does relax me! 🙂
Anyway!
Once again, I hit up Walmart to snag all the other fabulous makeup accoutrements for this Maybelline tutorial.
The before and after…
Here are the products I used for this tutorial:
Maybelline Master Contour Palette in Light to Medium, Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation in Porcelain Ivory and Dream Blender.
Maybelline “The Falsies” Push Up Drama” Mascara in Blackest Black and Master Graphic Eyeliner in Black.
Maybelline The Blushed Nudes eyeshadow palette, and then I will be honest… I ended up trying out two different lip colors. The first one I tried was the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Lip Color in Pink Pop, and I liked it, but I ended up liking the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Fuchsia Ecstasy even better for this look. So that’s the one I ended up sticking with!
Now, let’s get to the actual tutorial!
I started barefaced and I ALWAYS start by doing my eyebrows and my eyes. Some people do foundation and all that first, I prefer to do eyes first because that way I can clean up any mistakes or fallout a whole lot easier.
I love this color for a transition shade because it really gives your eyes just a little bit of extra definition.
Now, I am NOT the world’s expert on how to do a cat eye, HOWEVER, I will say that this Maybelline Master Graphic eyeliner makes it SUPER easy. The shape of the brush really allows you to get a good edge and it’s SO pigmented that it gives it that dramatic effect that a cat eye should have.
PRO TIP: When attempting a cat eye, I ALWAYS start in the MIDDLE of my eye lid and work my way OUT and then back in. I don’t ever, ever start from the inner corner. It’s a whole lot easier to start from the middle and go out from there. Also, remember… cat eye eyeliner on eyes should be “cousins, not sisters.” Meaning, don’t stress if they aren’t EXACT and totally even. Chances are, no one will notice but you. 🙂
I wanted a fun and flirty color, but didn’t want it to be TOO casual, if that makes sense. I think the Pink Pop color would be great for kind of a fun, everyday, running around town sorta fun color, but not romantic enough for date night. At least not on me… 🙂
What do you think?
Will you give this makeup tutorial a try? Have you tried any of the new Maybelline products that are out right now? Which lip color did YOU like better? The Pink Pop or the Fuchsia?
