My 2016 word of the year this year is “purposeful,” and I’m realizing more and more that that word is so perfect and fitting for everything that has happened and (likely) will happen this year. I’m in a season of life where I’m having to be more and more purposeful with everything I do.

Additionally, I’m learning that in order to be more purposeful, I’m having to simplify my life… left and right. Simplicity is key these days. Simplicity in my wardrobe, simplicity in my day-to-day organization / systems, simplicity in my work, simplicity with my kids… I think we underestimate simplicity.

We are in a culture of busy and doers and must-haves. Simple is bucking the trend. Simple is counter-culture. Simple is weird. 

But I’m learning to love simple. I’m certainly not great at simple yet… but I’m getting there. Bit by bit. Step by step. Decision by decision.

Simple is growing on me.
