I don’t know if you’re like me at all, but sometimes I literally lie awake at night thinking about how blessed I am and how I wish there were something I could do to really, truly make the world a better place.
I am often consumed with the fact that there are, quite literally, millions (if not billions) of people in the world living in poverty without access to basic needs like clean drinking water, food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, etc.
It’s overwhelming, for sure! So. So. So. Overwhelming.
And I think about the kind of world I want my own kids to grow up in. I think about what legacy I want to leave for them.
And again, I’m consumed (and overwhelmed) thinking about it.
It can be really easy for all of us to think about these things (like poverty and modern day slavery and the future of our world, etc.) and just get to the point where we are so overwhelmed that we basically shut down and don’t do anything.
But I think, those are the moments where we stop and we think, “Okay, I can’t change the world… but I can make an impact in my own personal circle of influence.”
So, yes, things like shopping ethically MAKE AN IMPACT.
Things like serving your community or being kind to others or teaching your kids about giving back…. MAKE AN IMPACT.
The more we do things like that, collectively, we are able to make a MASSIVE impact on our world! Seriously! You really have NO IDEA how powerful you are!!
Now, one more thing. Carly and I are teaming up to do more than host our link up. We are teaming up to share brands that we love……brands that give back. Each week we’ll be collaborating with one of our favorite brands to share the cause they support, and their amazing products.
This week we are teaming up with Roma Boots. Roma Boots was founded in 2010 by Samuel Bistrian. He combined his expertise in the fashion field with his goal of helping children his home country of Romania. For every pair of adorable boots sold, a pair is donated to a child in need in a location with cold and wet climates. Roma Boots also gives the children much needed school supplies and supports local educational programs. That’s right!! Ten percent of all proceeds funds educational initiatives around the world. How awesome is that??
Roma Boots have supported children around the globe in the Americas, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa.
Check out more of their story here:
What about you? Have you heard of Roma Boots? What are you doing to take part in giving poverty the boot?
Now, on to you guys…..our favorites last week?

It does get to me at times, the legacy I hope to leave behind for Eve, and the world wherein which she must survive as an adult. That’s when I go into (what she calls) atomic bomb mode. I call it being an over-protective parent 🙂 but yes, it can get overwhelming some days. I’m still learning to cope with it but I like the idea of shopping ethically. I do that on occasion but neither conscientiously nor intentionally. Perhaps I should 🙂
p/s the lyrics of Heal The World come to mind xoxo
I have not heard of Roma boots but always love hearing about companies doing good. Your blog always highlights that and is one of the things I love best about it!

Awesome story and company. Love those fun boots!
Love your fun boots! Thanks for the feature.
I love the boots – very festive! I totally agree that thinking about the massive inequality in the world can be very overwhelming, but lots of small acts mount up to something significant. I’m very conscious of making sure my daughter knows that she’s very lucky and there are many children who are not so fortunate. Thankfully she is a very kind and considerate girl who really feels injustices so that gives me hope. Sometimes I think kids would make a much better job of ruling the world!
