CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? We are literally less than two weeks away from Thanksgiving. We are a month and a half from Christmas. WHAT IN THE?!?!?!?! I’m all of a sudden in “I guess I should start thinking about the holiday season” mode… and, well, you know that means obviously all my favorite things about the holidays like family time and food and parties and random acts of Christmas kindness and Jesus’ birthday! ANDDD… it also means gift guides and gift shopping!
I am SO passionate about purchasing with purpose all year long… but especially during the holiday season. So, over the next couple weeks, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite ethical shops and purchase with purpose gift guides. If I can even, for a moment, get you to start thinking about where you are purchasing from this year, I will be so excited. And remember… progress, not perfection.
Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite fair trade items from the first fair trade shop I ever started shopping with… TEN THOUSAND VILLAGES! They are no stranger to this blog as I’ve been a long time supporter. So I was really excited to team up with them for this post and giveaway!
Okay… before we get into it… HEADS UP!
I have talked about this necklace quite a bit on my Instagram and shared it in my most recent ethical fashion look book! I get questions and compliments about this beautiful necklace EVERY time I wear it! It’s such a simple piece, but makes such a statement! The necklace is adjustable so you can wear it longer or shorter. It is handcrafted in Indonesia by incredibly talented artisans that otherwise would not have a stable source of income.
THIS GIFT IS PERFECT FOR: Jetsetters, hostess gift, teacher gift (geography teacher?! haha!)
We LOVE traditional games in this house. We play board games or card games all the time with our kids. I immediately fell in love with this beautiful wooden “four in a row” game (yes, it’s played just like that game you played as a kid!). It is so pretty it makes great coffee table decor AND it’s easy enough that the kids can play, too! This wooden game is handcrafted by artisans of the Asha Handicrafts Association. Asha, which is Sanskrit for “hope,” provides opportunities for artisans in and around Mumbai, India.
THIS GIFT IS PERFECT FOR: Kids, families, hostess gifts!
Pictures will never do this robe justice! It is ABSOLUTELY beautiful and so comfortable. I love that it’s a longer robe (so many robes are short… WHY???) and it is great for lounging around, getting ready in the morning, or just wanting to cozy up on the couch watching a movie. It is a traditional paisley block-print pattern. If you aren’t familiar with it, block printing is a labor-intensive method of hand-printing fabric. The artisans who do it, imprint the cloth with a wooden block that has a hand-carved design on it. The block printer moves from left to right, dipping the wooden design block into the dye and stamping it onto the cloth. This is repeated over and over again to cover the entire fabric. Isn’t that amazing?! Such an incredible art form and makes each piece unique and beautiful.
THIS GIFT IS PERFECT FOR: Moms, wives, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, or friends who would love a cozy robe!
