So, some of you may remember how last Friday I shared that I had lunch with my friend Brooke, and we both happened to show up wearing matching leather skirts. And I know that you were just dying to see my full outfit (a wee bit of sarcasm). Well, Brooke shared her look last week so, I thought it’d behoove me to share mine. Or something.
I’m not going to lie, if someone told me a year ago I’d be rocking this top and a leather skirt, I would have straight up laughed in their face. It’s totally out of my style comfort zone and I am A-OKAY with it.
It’s outfits like this that make me really love the art of fashion. It’s taking pieces that we might not have ever thought to wear and figuring out how to rock them. And the other thing I love is not trying to pretend I’m a size 2 (not that there’s anything wrong with being a size 2), but figuring out how to wear different trends with my own body type.
For example, a form-fitting leather skirt is NOT going to look right on me. It’s going to hug me in all the wrong places. Whereas the high-waisted leather skirt draws the attention to the smallest part of my waist. And the peplum? Well, the peplum over the full skirt also adds a bit of flare and interest while distracting from my, uh, hips.
Anyway. I’m rambling.
The long and the short of it is: I love this outfit.
